Das Wabi-Sabi in Super 8

Im Sommer 2026 widmet das Kunstmuseum Bochum dem angrenzenden Park eine Ausstellung (das öffentliche Grün). In Vorbereitung entsteht ein partizipatives Kunstprojekt mit der Künstlerin Dagie Brundert, die seit den 1980er Jahren mit Super8-Film arbeitet und zu den Vorreiterinnen eines ökologisch-nachhaltigen, experimentellen Kinos zählt. Ihre Filme entstehen mit alternativen Entwicklerlösungen aus scheinbar wertlosen Resten wie vergorenem Gemüse, Kaffeesatz oder Pflanzenteilen. Ihr künstlerischer Ansatz verbindet Recycling, Nachhaltigkeit und kreative Forschung.

In einer interaktiven Workshopreihe wird Dagie Brundert gemeinsam mit Bewohner*innen der am Stadtpark gelegenen Senior*innenresidenz Katharina-von-Bora-Haus einen experimentellen Kurzfilm realisieren. Ausgangspunkt sind gesammelte Pflanzen, vergessene Küchenreste und Fundstücke aus dem nahegelegenen Stadtpark. Sie dienen als Grundlage für die Filmentwicklung, aber auch als Inspiration für erzählerische Sequenzen von Stadtparkträumen. Der Film wird gemeinsam erdacht, gedreht und vor Ort in einem mobilen Labor entwickelt. So entsteht ein poetischer, subjektiver Blick auf den Stadtpark: ein Ort der Erinnerung, der Begegnung und der Fantasie.

In the summer of 2026, the Bochum Art Museum will dedicate an exhibition to the adjacent park (the public green space). In preparation, a participatory art project is being developed with artist Dagie Brundert, who has been working with Super 8 film since the 1980s and is one of the pioneers of ecologically sustainable, experimental cinema. Her films are created using alternative developing solutions made from seemingly worthless leftovers such as fermented vegetables, coffee or plant parts. Her artistic approach combines recycling, sustainability and creative research.

In a series of interactive workshops, Dagie Brundert will work with residents of the Katharina-von-Bora-Haus retirement home, located next to the city park, to create an experimental short film. The starting point will be collected plants, forgotten kitchen scraps and found objects from the nearby city park. These will serve as the basis for the film's development, but also as inspiration for narrative sequences of city park dreams. The film will be conceived, shot and developed on site in a mobile laboratory. The result will be a poetic, subjective view of the city park: a place of memory, encounter and imagination.
